Ex-Jefferson County prosecutor gets 18 months for pressuring defendant into sex, lying to FBI
Crabtree can be heard in the recording telling the woman he’s married but wants “someone on the side.”
He offers her $300 in cash. The woman, a mother of two, responds that she’s not a prostitute.“Oh no, of course not. I’m trying to help you,” Crabtree says. “You’ve got kids.
I just didn’t know if you wanted to do anything on this side and, if not, it’s not a big deal. I’m dismissing your cases regardless.”

Law Lesson
Let go of your nuts, or it will hurt
People hold on the wrong arguments in court. Bludgeon them with this.
Freedom of Information Act
and Public Records Law
Student Press Freedom Day FOIA Workshop
Under the federal Freedom of Information Act and public records laws in all 50 states, anyone can request information from federal, state and local agencies like the FBI, the EPA, your local police department, or even your local public school or university. Lots of things can inspire public records or freedom of information requests — announcements, news stories, and more. Filing public records requests is an important way for young journalists to gain insight into the operations of various public agencies and organizations.

Federal Caselaw
Short Circuit: A Roundup of Recent Federal Court Decisions
Ticked off at his sergeant for writing him up, Mansfield, Ohio police officer makes a public records request for her personnel file. Yikes! The file contains a statement given during polygraph exam about “unnatural sexual behaviors, … part of which may have occurred while she was a minor.” Can she sue the city’s public-records officer for releasing the file without redaction? District court: No qualified immunity. Sixth Circuit (https://www.opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf/23a0078n-06.pdf) (unpublished): Reversed. State law seemingly required disclosure, and the info could arguably help the public evaluate her fitness to be an officer.

Someone doesn’t understand my flat-Earth challenge.

It appears the gentleman has not listened to the programs below, or understand that I am not trying to prove him wrong, or that the Earth is a globe. He is the one who has the so-called proof. Bring it on so we can make some money.
It’s all about the Federal False Claims Act.
It’s not for me to prove it ain’t flat—it’s for you to prove it is.

Analytics Show One Firm Filed Over 5,000 Lawsuits in a Week
Your unfair advantage is illuminated with this article.
Many of the lawsuits are part of a long-running multidistrict litigation (https://www.docketalarm.com/cases/Florida_Northern_District_Court/3–19-md-02885/IN_RE–_3M_COMBAT_ARMS_EARPLUG_PRODUCTS_LIABILITY_LITIGATION/) against 3M over Combat Arms earplugs it supplied to the United States military. In 2018, the Department of Justice announced (https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/3m-company-agrees-pay-91-million-resolve-allegations-it-supplied-united-states-defective-dual) a $9.1 million settlement with 3M to resolve False Claims Act allegations. According to the government, the company failed to disclose a defect that caused the earplugs to be much less effective for certain wearers.

Stupid Patent of the Month: Digital Verification Systems Patents E-Signatures
You can’t learn much about how to verify digital identities from the patent owned by Digital Verification Services. But the breadth of work on actual digital verification can be gleaned by looking at the long list of companies and products that DVS has sued. In fact, DVS has sued more than 50 different companies. Some are large, like NASDAQ-listed DocuSign, but many more of its targets are small companies with less than 50 (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/trustifi) or even less than 10 employees (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/docufirst). They stand accused of offering “hardware and/or software for digital signature services.”
